Afropolitanizing the Local: How Cultural Imperialism is Rewriting the Narratives of African Entertainment Industries (2025)
Using postcolonial theory, I present analyses on the attention that Ghanaian and Nigerian entertainment media are getting globally. I argue that although African pop culture and entertainment media is being globalized rapidly than ever before, it is imperative to pay attention to the way that this trend is coloured by the Western Gaze, cultural imperialism, afropolitan logics and the displacement of African continental consumers and audiences of these culture industries.

Intersectionality in African digital organizing: a Ghanaian perspective (2022)
I examine intersectionality within the Ghanaian context using African feminisms as a backdrop. I argue that to drive African feminisms toward emancipatory praxes, it is imperative to center identity categories that are often erased from feminist conversations and to pay attention to organizing from these margins to amplify the erased narratives about marginalization.

Bilchiinsi Philosophy: Decolonizing Methodologies in Media Studies (2022)
Drawing on what I call an African feminist autoethnography framework grounded in a decolonial philosophy of Bilchiinsi, I present critical reflections on my experiences as an African scholar conducting research on media studies on the continent. I argue that although canonical theories can be useful in theorizing African media systems, decolonizing research must first look to Indigenous African epistemologies and knowledge systems to support knowledge production in communication studies and media studies.

In this research project, I examined the corporate social responsibility (CSR) work of telecommunications companies in Northern Ghana.
Social Media & Activism
My research centers the voices of historically marginalized groups in Ghana. I worked on a project to reflect on the ways in which a Muslim woman strategically used social media to get justice for herself.
